Notes: Barsac is a Bordeaux appellation confined to one parish: Barsac. The wines of Barsac may also use the Sauternes appellation.
Barsac wines are very similar to Sauternes, being very sweet white wines. They go excellently with foie gras.

Notes: Sauternes is a Bordeaux appellation touching 5 parishes: Barsac, Bommes, Fargues, Preignac and Sauternes.
Sauternes are very sweet white wines. They are an excellent accompaniment to foie gras. Sauternes are wines that can be cellared quite happily for long periods: some may even be kept for over a century

Notes: Pessac-Léognan is a very recent Bordeaux appellation, only created in 1987: previously, it belonged to the Graves apellation. Pessac-Léognan is notable for having produced one of the five premiers grands crus classé of the Médoc classification of 1855.
